BIOGRAPHY

Gerwald Lichtenberg is a Professor of Physics and Control Engineering at HAW Hamburg and the scientific director of the Fraunhofer ILES application centre. His research spans model-based control, learning systems, and fault diagnosis for local energy networks, building systems, and particle accelerators.

Gerwald leads research in multilinear modelling methods and tensor decomposition applications for control engineering and develops supervisory control strategies for complex energy systems. His work integrates physics-based and data-driven approaches to optimise local energy network management and building system performance.
